Lionstone Development Hosts Masters Mystery Art Show To Generate Awareness and Support
for the Arts and Education
Starting in 2004, Lionstone Development and the Lowenstein Family took the lead role in organizing the Maters Mystery Art Show (MMAS), one of the most important fundraising events to benefit the prestigious Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts (MFA) program at Florida International University.
Hosted in December to coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach, this international fundraising exhibition gathers prominent business and community leaders and art collectors at the exclusive Lionstone/Lowenstein owned Ritz-Carlton South Beach to acquire original work donated by a wealth of important artists.
The works are displayed anonymously, creating an artistic “whodunit” as guests buzz around the mini masterpieces and try to identify works by famous artists and up-and-coming talent to add to their collections. According to Martin Elortegui, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Lionstone Development and a major force behind the MMAS, “Art and the expansion of artistic development is a big part of the Lowenstein’s family life and business ventures.
This event offers a platform from which we can help generate awareness and support for valuable education programs such as FIU’s. We feel honored to be able to contribute in some way to the cultural expansion of South Florida.”
Since its inception, the event has raised over $80,000 for the MFA program.

Lionstone Development Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters
To Educate Community on Importance of Mentoring
Lionstone Development and the Lowenstein Family are big supporters of the non-profit organization Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Greater Miami Chapter for its work fostering positive role models and adult mentor relationships for at-risk children.
Each May, the Lowenstein family and Lionstone Development sponsor Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami’s (BBBS) “Big Impact Breakfast,” one of the organization’s major awareness building and fundraising events. More than 300 guests including Miami’s most prominent business and community leaders are treated to a lavish breakfast at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, owned by the Lowenstein’s/Lionstone Development. Attendees learn about the organization’s mission and hear stories of Big/Little matches that illustrate the importance of mentor relationships.
According to Diego Lowenstein, CEO of Lionstone Development, “It is my family’s honor to sponsor this important event each year for Big Brothers Big Sisters. The organization does an exemplary job of bettering the lives of our youth through its mentoring programs. The awareness generated through events like this attract new volunteers and donors to BBBS, which in turn hugely impacts the lives of so many local children, who are now on their way to meeting new Big Brothers and Sisters.”

The PlayGround Theatre
Since 2008, Lionstone Development and the Lowenstein Family have worked closely with The PlayGround Theatre, a unique Miami-based organization which shares the family’s passion for the arts.
Every summer, the Lowenstein’s help organize and bring together over 300 guests to the theater’s Tea at the Ritz event. Hosted at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, the afternoon gathering, and one of organization’s major fundraisers, helps support the theater’s Education and Outreach Program.
Since its inception, the program has given over 20,000 underserved families a chance to learn about and enjoy theater performances. Through this event, and other ongoing efforts, The PlayGround Theatre is able to bring in-school and in-theater workshops to the community. The group works closely with public schools, charities, and other community organizations to carry its mission.
“The PlayGround Theatre shares our dedication to promoting the arts within communities,” said Flavia Lowenstein-Elortegui, Vice President of Interior Design of Lionstone Development and Co-Chair of The PlayGround Theatre. ‘The arts are fundamental to the development of a community and should be accessible to everyone, especially children. That is our ultimate goal.”
